Man allegedly let son, 10, drive
EAST ISLIP, N.Y., July 4 (UPI) -- A New York man was charged with child endangerment after he allegedly let his 10-year-old son drive his car in a convenience store parking lot.
The boy drove into a parked car Wednesday night, Newsday reported. The boy's 9-year-old cousin was also in the car.
Craig Griffith, 41, of East Islip was taken into custody up at a friend's house Thursday. Police said he took over the driving after his son crashed, dumped the car and the boys near his home and then fled on foot.
Griffith faces charges including reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and allowing an unlicensed driver to use his car.
